Why large print

Made to be easy on the eyes

No squinting, no tiny grids crowded onto one page. Just a comfortable puzzle and time to enjoy it.

A typeface made for reading

Every letter is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface created by the Braille Institute to make letters easier to tell apart for readers with low vision.

One puzzle per page

Each puzzle gets a full 8.5 x 11 inch page with a roomy 15 x 15 grid, a picture and a word list you can tick off.

A gentle start

The first puzzles run only across, down and on a slant. A few starred challenge words, spelled backwards, join in later.

Solutions included

All 60 answers are in the back of the book, so you're never stuck. Take all the time you like.

Our story

Aldea means “village”

Our name comes from Spanish, and our look comes from the pueblos of Colombia: whitewashed walls, painted doors in every color, clay tile roofs, and the carved, colorful panels called zócalos along the bottom of each house. Neighbors leave their doors open and stop to chat.

That is the feeling we want in every book. Aldea Press is a small, independent studio making puzzle books that are clear, kind and a little bit cheerful, with something new to learn on every page.
